It was like the Maliko Run came to West Maui today. The wind direction was perfect for a “Down Winder” on West Maui. The north winds of the cold front passing through the state were gusting up to 35kt and pelting squalls of rain were riding along with the gusts. Over all a day to stay at home, but not for Tim and me, the conditions for a “Down Wind” Run could not have been better for our side of the island.

We were planning to paddle from Napili to Lahaina a good 8mile run. We were making good pace down the coast, I was a good half mile ahead, when I decided to jump on my friends boat along the way at Ka’anapali North Beach. I reached out for the boat with my paddle to make sure I won’t miss, the paddle got caught between a shroud and a cleat, then a wave hit me and the paddle snapped in half by the force of me holding on to it. WHAT A BUMMER! I was, and still am so PISSED to loose my nice carbon paddle, which was not cheap either.

Time arrived at the boat about 10 minutes later and I had to tell him that our run is over due to my stupid move. We had no choice but to paddle to shore to call someone to pick us up an drive us down to Lahaina to my car.

Nevertheless we had a great time and a good workout. Now I need to look for a new paddle. Fantastic!

It is nice to be back on island after a successful business trip to the ISPO in Germany. Even after a perfect day of snowboarding with my friends, to me nothing compares to the deep blue ocean and its vast possibilities to play in it.

Today the conditions could not have been better for some leisure Stand Up Paddling, the whales were swimming less than a 1000m off shore flapping their tails, while people like us enjoyed a paddle.

As you can see, SUP is also a great couple activity, depending who is doing the work.

Today was also a great opportunity to try out the new MikeJuckerHawaii boardshorts. I was very pleased with the comfort of the material, it is very light and dried surprisingly quickly. I am also looking forward when one of our new SUP-Board arrives here on Maui, so I don’t have to use this crappy board anymore.

Day 3 was fantastic, we met many people from different fields of the paddle sport. The spark of SUP has been ignited, people show great interest in the giant boards and the paddles. We had no other choice than taking out 11″ for a “spin” in Hall B4 to demonstrate.

Another item of grate popularity remains our Homerider. The promo girl in Hall B4 could not get enough riding the Homerider at our booth.

We are looking forward to the last day and are ready for a great after party.

It was a great first day here at the “ISPO 10”. We are proud of Mr. Obarns decoration job and send our Mahalos to Panos from Fun4You.

The hit at our stand is the brand new Skatesurfer, this new product sure turns heads. In fact even some big wigs from departmen stores in Germay where interested to take he product into their Summer 2010 program.

We also met with Anne-Marie Reichman, she pioneers Stand Up Paddling in Holland. She organizes a great event that tours through 11 Cities in 5 days following the many waterways (Grachten) in Holland. You can check her event here.

Now we are off to day 2, looking forward to meet more exciting people.

MikeJuckerHawaii will present a whole new line of hardware at the ISPO 2010. We are proud to introduce some cutting edge products like the Worlds first Skatesurfer and Stand Up Paddle boards designed in Hawaii especially for Rivers and Lakes. Unser Produkte Manager und alles “Paratmacher” Mr. O’Barns ist ober gestocked. Unsere 4 SUP Modelle sind eben eingetroffen und werden an der ISPO zum ersten mal an den Markt gebracht. Die Bretter sind erste Sahne, die wurden nämlich von unserem Chefen-Shaper auf Hawai’i entwickelt. Das “River” Modell wird alle stehen lassen auf unseren Binnengewässern das hat ein spezielles Unterwasserschiff für Seen und Flüsse.

SUP, Stand Up Paddling, das ist DER NEUE Sport. Hier auf Hawaii schon gut etabliert, war er eigentlich erfunden als alternative zum konventionellen Surfen. Aber SUP mehr als Surfen. Viele Leute gehen Paddeln einfach nur paddeln weil es super Spaß macht auch ohne Wellen. Stand Up Paddling ist ein gutes Ganzkörpertraining und es macht echt Spaß einfach auf dem Wasser zu sein.

MikeJuckerHawaii arbeitete mit einem Local Shaper zusammen um ein SUP speziell für Binnengewässer zu entwickeln. Unsere Bretter haben ein spezielles Unterwasserschiff entwickelt für „Stille Gewässer“ dank dem neu entwickelten „Rocker“ gleitet das Brett besser auf Seen und Flüssen.

MikeJuckerHawaii wird in 2010 mit 3 Modellen an den Markt gehen. Wir freuen uns diese SUPs auf der ISPO 2010 vor zu stellen, besucht uns am Stand 316 in Halle B4.

Also der Surf ist nun wirklich etwas abgeflacht, auch der beste Winter in Jahren macht mal etwas Pause. Die Wellen Heute bei Ho’okipa waren gerade mal kopfhoch und an der Westseite war es tuten Flach. Dafür blies der Wind off shore den ganzen Tag an unseren Secret Spots zu schade das keine Wellen waren. Wir hoffen nun auf Mittwoch, dann soll es wieder krachen hier, auch die Gebiss-Welle bei Pe’ahi soll wieder abgehen dann.

Mal sehen was passiert, hier seid Ihr auf jeden Fall immer mit dabei.
